CBI raids Chandigarh Housing Board office, seizes records of flats in Sector 63

According to sources, CBI will now scan the documents and will proceed further if any irregularity is found.

A team of  Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted a raid at the office of the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) in Sector 9 Monday.

During the three-hour raid, the CBI team seized records pertaining to flats constructed in Sector 63 under the General Self-Financing Housing Scheme-2008.

CBI acted after receiving a complaint alleging poor quality of construction material used in the flats. The team seized documents pertaining to tendering, allocation of work and the contractors who carried out the construction.

According to sources, CBI will now scan the documents and will proceed further if any irregularity is found.

CHB has constructed a total of 2,108 flats at Rs 414.45 crore, which include 336 three-bedroom flats, 888 two-bedroom flats, 564 one-bedroom flats and 320 flats for the Economically Weaker Section.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to the city in September had handed over keys and allotment letters to as many as 10 allottees.

The draw of lots for allocation of flats was held after inviting applications from general public. The allotment of flats to the EWS is in progress.
