Jaswinder was exonerated in the murder of a city resident,Ashok Kumar, but held guilty for injuring his son by hitting him “with a helmet.”

Last year in May,Jaswinder had gone to the house of Ashok Kumar to get the payment of Rs 2,400 on account of the work he had done to repair the shop of the deceased at Sector 16 in the city. He was however paid Rs 1,000 and was asked that he will be given the remaining amount on some other date. This had lead to heated arguments and the police had alleged that the accused strangulated Kumar and also hit his son Lalit Kumar with a helmet. However medical opinion in the case was that the accused had died due to heart-stroke and he was acquitted of murder charges. The accused was given the benefit of doubt in the case due to the conflicting versions of the doctors and the police in the case.
