Body of 2-month-old girl found, case filed in Chandigarh

The infant's body was discovered around 11 am when sanitation workers of the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation spotted it near a park and alerted the police.

The body of a two-month-old girl was discovered wrapped in a towel and dumped in the bushes near a residential area in Sector 9 on Tuesday morning.

The infant’s body was discovered around 11 am when sanitation workers of the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation spotted it near a park and alerted the police.

The police said that scratch marks on the child’s face suggested that she might have been attacked by an animal after being abandoned.

A medical team was immediately called to the spot which confirmed that the child was dead.
The Sector 3 police has registered a case against unknown persons and initiated an investigation.

The police are also scanning CCTV footage from the vicinity in an effort to identify those responsible for abandoning the infant.
