Bharatiya Janata Party national secretary and former Haryana minister Om Prakash Dhankar has authored a book titled Give Your Best, aimed at inspiring individuals to lead meaningful lives.

Dhankar shares that he has been working on the book for the past 12 years.

The book begins with a prayer he wrote: “the soul is free; let consciousness be free” — which he continued to refine over time before shaping it into a full-fledged book. “This is not just a prayer; it’s a direction, a way of living. It is a heartfelt inner call, woven in words, inviting every human toward their highest self. It belongs to no sect, no single ideology; it’s a voice of universal human consciousness — longing for the soul’s freedom, clarity of intellect, and meaningful action,” says Dhankar, also a social activist.

In one of the chapters, he writes, “Everyone should have a life mantra — a guiding principle, akin to the North Star, that consistently serves as a beacon in their life.” He adds, “I call this a philosophy of life, which shapes one’s worldview and guides the direction of life. This philosophy determines the nature of your life’s goal and the means and tools to achieve it.”

Reflecting on balanced behaviour, the former agriculture minister notes, “Perfection is not found at extremes but in the middle,” and cites Buddha’s middle path as the way to achieve equilibrium.

According to Dhankar, the book is a distillation of his personal journey, his experiences across different stages of life, and travels to various parts of the world.

During his tenure as national secretary of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Dhankar published a black paper critiquing the 1986 education policy introduced by the then Rajiv Gandhi government. He has also served as the national coordinator for the collection of iron and soil for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ambitious Statue of Unity project.

Before entering politics, Dhankar spent 11 years as a geography lecturer, a role that laid the foundation for his intellectual and philosophical pursuits.
