BJP-INLD still to work out the seat-sharing formula

Although the BJP is still to finalise its seat sharing formula with the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD),for the forthcoming Lok Sabha poll,the state unit has asked the prospective candidates to send their names for all the ten seats in the state by January 15.

While the BJP has been insisting on getting six seats,giving four to the INLD,the latter has indicated that it is not ready to give more than five seats to its alliance partner. The two parties joined hands recently,keeping in mind the Lok Sabha polls due this year. In the Lok Sabha poll,in 2000,the BJP-INLD alliance had the swept the poll,winning five seats each.

Co-incharge of Haryana BJP party affairs,Harjeet Grewal,recently announced the BJP would have six seats,but according to sources,the party high command is yet to decide the matter. The BJP is keen to increase its tally of one seat in Haryana from the present House,while the INLD,which drew a blank in the 2004 Parliamentary elections,wants to comeback strongly this time.

Meanwhile,the BJP has planned workers meeting in all the 10 Lok Sabha constituencies of the state from January 15.

The month-long exercise will end on February 15,according to the sources. At present,booth meetings are being held in the 90 assembly constituencies and the BJP is also appointing booth agents.
