Girls from Bathinda, Pathankot selected for training at OTA in Chennai

Punjab Employment Generation, Skill Development and Training Minister Aman Arora said that the Mai Bhago AFPI has been transforming girls of Punjab into ‘Women of Substance’.

Two girl cadets of the Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute (AFPI) for Girls, Mohali have been selected for pre-commission training at the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai.

The training of selected Arshdeep Kaur Sidhu and Palvi Rajput will be commence from October 2023 onwards.

Arshdeep is the daughter of Bathinda-based Harwinder Singh Sidhu, who is a government employee with the Military Engineering Service (MES) while Palvi belongs to Pathankot and her father Ravinder Singh is a farmer.

Congratulating both girls for their achievement, Punjab Employment Generation, Skill Development and Training Minister Aman Arora said that the Mai Bhago AFPI has been transforming girls of Punjab into ‘Women of Substance’.

“Undoubtedly, the institute is the Pride of Punjab, which has been helping the girls from Punjab to become commissioned officers in the Armed Forces,” he added.

Recently, the Punjab government has taken the step of approving an NDA Preparatory Wing for Girls at Mai Bhago AFPI, which has already commenced training from July 2, 2023 onwards.

Expressing delight over the selection of these two girls, the Director of Mai Bhago AFPI Major General Jasbir Singh Sandhu (Retd.) said that with these results, 28 cadets of the institute have joined various Armed Forces training academies so far.
