A local court today dismissed the bail applications of four accused in the cement pilferage scam. The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Raj Rahul Garg dismissed the anticipatory bail plea of the prime accused,contractor Harshwardhan as well as that of Junior Engineer Raj Kumar. Besides,the court also dismissed the regular bail applications of arrested accused Jawahar Jindal and storekeeper Chhedi Lal. The cement pilferage scam was unearthed on the March 21 when the police booked six persons for pilfering 200 bags of cement from the store of the Municipal Corporation. The police had booked the government contractor of the flooring work,Harshwardhan,as the prime accused in the crime. He is yet to be arrested and his anticipatory bail application was dismissed today. Similarly,the court dismissed the anticipatory bail plea of Raj Kumar,the junior engineer with the civic body. The police had said the pilfered cement was supposed to be used by Harshwardhans father Jawahar Jindals firm Sarv Priya Building Products at Sunderpur village in Barwala for fabricating cement tiles and paver blocks. While Harshwardhan is still at large,the police arrested the driver of the truck Hawinder Singh,and on the basis of his interrogation,nabbed Jawahar Jindal,father of Harshwardhan and storekeeper of the sub-store of the Corporation Chhedi Lal.
