The low-intensity blast in the Bakshiwala area of Kalanor at around 8 pm occurred at a checkpost which was reportedly unoccupied, preventing any loss of life or property. However, a small truck stationed outside the police checkpost reportedly caught fire.
The “blast” occurred a day after an alleged explosion was reported at the Islamabad police station in Amritsar early Tuesday. It damaged the cemented sheets on the building’s roof and burned some wires.
Sources revealed that forensic teams had arrived at the blast scene in Batala for investigation. So far, the Punjab Police have not issued any statement over the Batala ‘blast’. As many as six confirmed attacks on police stations and checkpoints have been reported in Punjab in the last 27 days.
