Deepak BabariaThe Congress in-charge of Haryana, Deepak Babaria Wednesday issued a “warning” to all party MLAs, ex-MLAs and other office-bearers that if they fail to get adequate votes in Congress’s favour in ongoing LS polls from their respective seats, it would “weaken” their claim for tickets in the Haryana Assembly polls scheduled in October this year.
In an apparent message to a handful Congress leaders who are not following the party’s line and not campaigning across the constituencies as they are expected, Babaria’s letter is considered a stern warning ahead of polls on May 25. While Babaria was unavailable for comments, Congress sources confirmed that the 2-page letter was issued by Babaria and received by MLAs and ex-MLAs. The letter ends with: “I would like to alert all incumbent leaders [MLAs], former MLAs and party ticket-seekers that in LS polls results, whichever constituency is found with low polling turnout in Congress’s favour… all such persons’ claims in Vidhan Sabha polls will get weakened”.
