Around Town : Industrial Area tenants’ body president elected

Sanjeev Sagar was elected the president of the Chandigarh Industrial Area Tenants Association. Among the others elected were B S Saini as general secretary and Pawan K Singla as treasurer.

CHANDIGARH: Sanjeev Sagar was elected the president of the Chandigarh Industrial Area Tenants Association. Among the others elected were B S Saini as general secretary and Pawan K Singla as treasurer. Highlighting its priorities the elected members said that they would focus on rehabilitation in Industrial Area Phase III for tenants,finalisation of draft industrial policy and stopping of misuse and violation notices.

CHANDIGARH: Yogesh Chawla,Director,PGIMER honoured Dr K K Kohli,Head,Department of Biochemistry along with fifteen officials on their superannuation today by presenting mementos to them. Beneficiary cheques comprising GPF,gratuity and group insurance were also handed over.

Express staff retires after 29-year innings

CHANDIGARH: Jyotirmay Roy,a senior paster with The Indian Express retired today after 29 years of service. He was given a warm farewell in the office premises. Having joined the organisation in 1983,Roy held a number of positions. Roy’s family members were also present on the occasion.

India has strongly condemned Pakistan’s recent military actions along the Afghan border, accusing Islamabad of sheltering and sponsoring terrorist organisations amid escalating tensions between the two neighbours. At a press briefing on Thursday, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal also underlined New Delhi’s support for Afghanistan’s sovereignty and independence.
