Around 60 school students to visit NASA

Nearly 60 students from Dalhousie Public School,Dalhousie,in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh are set to visit National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the Kennedy Space Center in the US.

Nearly 60 students from Dalhousie Public School,Dalhousie,in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh are set to visit National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the Kennedy Space Center in the US.

‘The students from classes VI to X,selected by Kennedy Space Center under an international programme,will leave for the US accompanied by four teachers on December 9 and would participate in the world’s biggest science and engineering programme,said GS Dhillon,principal of the school. During the 10-day visit, students will get a chance to have lunch with astronauts,interact with scientists and visit the Hall of Fame. They will also visit the Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory,a training facility at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston,which consists of a large indoor pool of water,in which astronauts perform tasks in a simulated weightless environment.

Students will also be exposed to space sciences,robotics and nuances involved in designing a space shuttle. They will visit the Kennedy Space Centre’s shuttle landing facility,Dhillon said.
