The lab technician at the Government Medical College and Hospital in Sector 32,Amrita,who attempted suicide at Madhopur in Rajasthan on Saturday night,was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi with an amputated arm. Admitted in the trauma ward of the hospital,doctors attending to her said her condition was critical.
Amrita had switched off her mobile phone and went to Rajasthan. It was late on Saturday night that she had sent an SMS to her father saying that she does not want to live anymore. The Chandigarh Police,which was tracking Amritas mobile since afternoon,found that she had jumped in front of a train near Madhopur station in Rajasthan.
Amritas father Omkar,while talking to Newsline over phone from Delhi,said,A doctor at GMCH-32 and another lab technician connived and mentally tortured my daughter. She was under acute depression. She was humiliated by her seniors again on Saturday morning. I am not going to leave them. They have ruined my daughters life. I will the case to its logical conclusion. Such people should be taught a lesson.
Amrita,22,was working as a lab technician at GMCH-32 for the past 18 months. According to her father,she was a promising and hard-working employee,who used to work for hours at length. The doctor and the lab technician were nursing a grudge against her and used to pass nasty comments at her. Yesterday morning,they both humiliated my daughter again because of which she took the extreme step, Omkar added.
Meanwhile,Secretary (Health) Ram Niwas,said,If such is the case,the family should immediately lodge a complaint. I shall order an immediate probe. If anybody is found guilty,whatsoever the rank,the person shall not be spared.
