Taking no chances, Haryana government has got into a high-alert mode to prevent any protests or disruption in the upcoming rally of Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Sirsa, on June 18. At least two dozen IPS officers and over 3000 police personnel have been deployed to maintain law and order and security protocols at the rally venue and in the area around the venue.
Haryana police has been reviewing the security arrangements in wake of the repeated protests by various farmer unions and repeated disruption of chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar’s Jan Samvad programmes by certain members of the opposition political parties. At least 130 such persons have been kept under watch.
Meanwhile, several farmer leaders and their supporters began hoisting black flags atop their residences in Sirsa on Saturday. In Hisar too, farmers protested against the BJP and announced that they would be taking out a protest march on Sunday.
A farmer leader Jasbir Singh released a video on his social media account and announced that from today onwards, farmers have begun hoisting black flags at their residences as a mark of protest against Amit Shah’s rally. Bhati also announced that they would be burning Amit Shah’s effigies tomorrow 11 am at several places. Bhati added that farmers are feeling betrayed because the union government had yet not fulfilled their promises that were made at the time of one year long farmer agitation. He said that the farmers can never forget the sacrifice of 730 farmers who lost their lives during that one year long agitation against three central farm legislations. “We shall be holding a peaceful demonstration. We appeal to the people not to attend Amit Shah’s rally,” Bhati said in his message.
Various other farmer leaders also put up black flags on their social media accounts and said that they would hold protests in tractor-trolleys at various places across Haryana, tomorrow.
Wary of several such announcements being made by the farmer leaders, state police force have intensified the security arrangements in Sirsa. ADGP Shrikant Jadhav even instructed the police personnel not to allow anybody carrying black flags, wearing black clothes or any other black objects inside the rally venue. Various farmer unions have announced that they would be carrying out protests and burn effigies in protest against Amit Shah’s rally, at several places including their villages across Haryana tomorrow.
The BJP has infused all its strength to make tomorrow’s rally a major show of strength in wake of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls in 2024. Especially after the stinging remarks being made by the leaders of both the coalition partners – BJP and JJP – in the recent past, BJP is leaving no stone unturned to show its might in tomorrow’s rally.
