After truce,multiplexes show signs of life

With the tiff between film distributors and owners of multiplexes coming to an end,a large number of movie buffs thronged various multiplexes in the city to finally catch up with the new releases on Friday.

With the tiff between film distributors and owners of multiplexes coming to an end,a large number of movie buffs thronged various multiplexes in the city to finally catch up with the new releases on Friday.

The strike had an adverse impact on the business of malls and multiplexes. With no big banners releasing their films,the malls bore an almost deserted look for the past few weeks.

Radhika Aggarwal,a student,who had come to see Kal Kisne Dekha Hai was not able to contain her excitement. “This year,summer vacations were just not the same. I am glad that the strike is finally over and we will now be able to watch new films,” she said.

With people visiting multiplexes and shopping malls,business seemed to pick up. Another student Pooja Jain said that films are primary source of entertainment during vacations. She added,“I prefer watching films in multiplexes and do a little bit of shopping.”

The manager of Fun Cinemas,Vineet Sublok,said: “We are very happy that the strike has finally ended. People are now coming in to watch movies,enjoy food and shop. We are expecting the foot fall to increase with the release of some big banner films soon.”
