Former Congress MLA Razia Sultna,who lost the Assembly elections from Malerkotla to SADs Farzana Alam,is now set to lose her membership of the Punjab Wakf Board as well,as the state government has decided to appoint Farzana as the board member.
According to sources,Razia was one of the 10 members of the board,besides Chairman Mohd Izhar Alam former DGP who is also Farzanas husband. According to rules,Muslim MPs or MLAs,besides eminent persons from the community,can be made members of the board. Thus,with Razia losing against Farzana,the government has decided to appoint the newly elected MLA as the boards member.
Before Izhar Alam,Razia was board chairman when the Congress was in power from 2002 to 2007. Not just Razia,her husband ADGP Mohd Mustafa is also under the governments scanner.
The home department,under which Punjab Wakf Board falls,has send a CD to Central Forensic Science Laboratory,in which Mustafa was reportedly seeking votes in the name of religion.
