Aerospace safety campaign at 12 Wing

As a part of the aerospace safety awareness and publicity campaign of the Indian Air Force,220 children from Bhawan Vidyalaya.

As a part of the aerospace safety awareness and publicity campaign of the Indian Air Force (IAF),220 children from Bhawan Vidyalaya,Chandigarh,and Saint Soldier School,Panchkula,visited the 12 Wing Air Force station. The aim of the visits was to make the schoolchildren aware of the fact that throwing of garbage and other food items in the open attracts a lot of birds,which is one of the main causes of aircraft accidents for both jet and propeller engine aircraft.

The students were also given an overview of career opportunities in the Indian Air Force. Air Cmde Rajeev Sachdeva,Air Officer Commanding,12 Wing,interacted with the school children and shared his views with them.

Wg Cdr Pankaj Chopra and his team explained to the students the importance of aerospace safety and the role of each and every citizen of the country in reducing cases of bird strikes on aircraft. A motivational film,Akash Yodha,was also screened for the students.

They witnessed transport aircraft IL-76,AN-32 and MI-26 helicopters along with two of the frontline fighters,Mig-29 and Mig-27 aircraft. They were given aircraft posters,notebook covers,pens,calendars,pocket calendars,key chains etc printed with aerospace safety awareness slogans.
