If the number of complainants are an indication,the UT Administrators public hearing sessions seem to be losing their sheen. This was exemplified on Monday as against five complainants scheduled for the day,only four turned up. Needless to say,the session ended within half an hour.
While a section of officials in the UT Administration that the lesser number of complaints is indicative of the Administrations efficiency,other blame the stringent screening system for applications,for the low turnout.
It has also got to do with the long window period of the complaint as it takes almost three to four weeks before the complaint and the complainant is verified to be presented in the public hearing session,said another official.
Meanwhile,UT Administrator Shivraj V Patil directed the Home Secretary to immediately release the Rs 2 lakh compensation amount to an acid attack victim,who was among the four complainants.
Responding to the request of Neha Takkar,an acid attack victim who requested for compensation,Patil asked Home secretary UT to give minimum compensation of Rs two lakh immediately to the victim and if the court decides more then the decided amount would be given accordingly.
In another case R K Garg said prostitution had become hi-tech and was flourishing in the city.
To this,the city IGP apprised the Administrator that all necessary steps were being taken to check this practice.
In another complaint,Professor RS Mishra said that he had applied for the post of Director PEC but has not been called for the interview. Patil asked Finance Secretary to consider his request and call him also for the interview.
Ramesh Kumar,a resident of Palsora colony said in his complaint that his name was not being considered in the Biometric Survey.
Patil assured that his case would be considered sympathetically as per the rules.
Later in a meeting with the officials of the UT Administration,Patil asked the officers to strengthen the public grievances mechanisms in their respective departments to improve service delivery systems.
