Following the alleged accidental firing at a restaurant in Sector 5 on New Years eve that has left a gunman of senior IAS officer K B S Sidhu battling for life, the Punjab Police has withdrawn both the security guards allotted to the officer. There were two gunmen allotted to Sidhu. We have found that his son was not under any security threat. However,as of now we have withdrawn Sidhus security cover, said Dinkar Gupta,Punjab ADGP (Security). In its inquiry into the incident, the Punjab Police has found that the IAS officers son was not allotted any gunman. However,it is yet to be ascertained whether any violation was made by Punjab cadre IAS officer Sidhu regarding the security cover enjoyed by him. The gunman, accompanying his son Sehaj on New Years eve,was allotted to Sidhu. On January 1,Head Constable Jaipal Singh who was attached as a gunman with Sidhu accompanied Sehaj to a New Years party at a restaurant in Sector 5 here. Around 3 am,Jaipal suffered a gunshot wound on his temple in an alleged accident while he was taking out his gun attached to a strap from his shoulders. As of now,we are not sure whether it was an accident or a fight that led to Jaipals injury. It will be ascertained when Jaipal is in a position to record his statement, said Rajbir Deswal,Commissioner (Ambala-Panchkula). The Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) is also investigating possible violations the restaurant is suspected to have made regarding the infrastructure of its building, terms and conditions made in the agreement with HUDA to run as a cafeteria and on serving liquor in a public place. No restaurant in Panchkula has the authority to serve liquor in a public place without our permission. We would be investigating how the restaurant proprietors were allowed to serve liquor. Moreover, the agreement to run as a cafeteria has also not been executed by HUDA yet. A team would also be sent to inspect the premises to check any infrastructure-related violations, said Vandana Disodia, estate officer,HUDA.
