A court in Amritsar’s Baba Bakala town Sunday remanded seven Waris Punjab De members in the custody of the Amritsar Rural Police till March 23.

Ajaypal Singh, Gurvir Singh, Baljinder Singh, Harminder Singh, Gurlal Singh, Savreet Singh and Amandeep Singh were part of Amritpal Singh’s motorcade that was intercepted by police in Jalandhar on Saturday.

Police said they seized six .12 bore rifles and 193 cartridges, which they suspect are unlicenced.

Punjab Police registered an FIR against Amritpal and these seven supporters for alleged possession of illegal arms, said Amritsar (Rural) SSP Satinder Singh.

All seven were arrested near Mehatpur in Jalandhar.

Meanwhile in Ludhiana, Deputy Commissioner Surabhi Malik and Commissioner of Police Mandeep Singh Sidhu Sunday chaired a peace committee meeting.
