The Panchkula traffic police has issued 514 challans and impounded 18 vehicles during a 10-day special campaign held between September 5 and September 14.
According to the police, the campaign, conducted under the police commissioner, primarily targeted lane indiscipline, noise pollution, and drunk driving.
Sharing details, ACP Traffic Surender Singh said that during the campaign, 217 challans were issued for lane driving violations and one vehicle was impounded. In cases of noise pollution caused by pressure horns and modified silencers, police issued 18 challans and seized five vehicles. Drunk driving remained a key focus area, with 279 challans issued and five vehicles impounded.
In total, 514 challans were issued and 18 vehicles seized during the campaign.
DCP (Traffic) Manpreet Singh Sudan stressed that road safety is a collective responsibility.
“Every driver must realise that even a small mistake can cost someone’s life. Our goal is not just to issue challans but to make people aware of the importance of following traffic rules and being responsible drivers,” he said, appealing to citizens to drive responsibly and maintain discipline on the roads.
