3 hurt in clash between PU student groups

A clash between factions of Hindustan Students Association (HSA) and National Students Organization (NSO) turned ugly on Friday when three of the HSA members were injured on the Panjab University (PU) campus.

A clash between factions of Hindustan Students Association (HSA) and National Students Organization (NSO) turned ugly on Friday when three of the HSA members were injured on the Panjab University (PU) campus.

It is alleged that some of the affiliates of NSO,a newly formed party on the campus comprising estranged members of Indian National Students’ Union (INSO),attacked the chief patron of H S A Bhagwana Ram Sharma,along with Bhavuk,a student at DAV College and member of HSA and Tarsem Nain,HSA party president of DAV College in the parking lot besides administration block where help desks were set up.

The three members of HSA were submitting some forms when they were attacked with sharp-edged weapons.

Bhagwana is critical,and Bhavuk and Tarsem also suffered some injuries. They are admitted in the emergency ward of the Government Multi-Specialty Hospital,Sector 16.

While an FIR has been registered against seven under Section 147,148,139,307 and 323 of IPC at Sector 11 police station.

HSA members also alleged that some of the members of the National Students Union (NSUI) also attacked their members.

Dean Students Welfare (DSW) Prof A S Ahluwalia said,“Some graduated students came to the varsity and attacked some students in the parking lot near the help desks. We have informed the police and as a precautionary measures removed the help desks”.
