3 die in Panchkula bike-truck collision

Three men were killed in an accident with a truck which took place at about 1 am. Sunil (42),Nizam (30) and Vikramjit Singh (28) were going from a wedding in Sector 24,Chandigarh,to Barwala on a motorcycle. At the three-road junction at Nada Sahib,their motorcycle collided with a truck which had a Himachal Pradesh registration number.

The truck was overtaking another one when it collided with the motorcycle. Some followers of Dera Sacha Sauda,who were coming to Panchkula for a prayer meeting scheduled for Sunday,reportedly took them to the Civil Hospital,Sector 6,where they were declared “brought dead”. Sunil,who hailed from Kot village,Panchkula sub-division,is survived by his wife and two children. He was the sole breadwinner of the family.

Vikramjit Singh,who hailed from Alipur village of Panchkula sub-division,is also survived by a wife and two children. Nizam was from Assam and was living at Derabassi. His family members were yet to reach the civil hospital. All three were workers of pharmaceutical firm Parabolic at Derabassi. The bodies were yet to be handed over to the families as the post-mortems were not completed.

The driver of the truck,Kewal,was admitted to hospital with injuries. Significantly,the road where the accident took place has no traffic lights.
