In one of the biggest drug recoveries,and second in the last 48 hours,the 41st battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) on Thursday found nearly 27 kg of heroin from near the India-Pakistan border in Amritsar district. Valued at Rs 135 crore in the international market,the consignment was recovered close to the barbed wire fencing near Rajatal village,a BSF officer said. According to a press release issued by the BSF officials,the consignment was being brought by Pakistan-based smugglers who were challenged by BSF troopers early on Thursday. As troops opened fire,they fled from the spot but left the consignment behind," the officer said. Earlier on Tuesday,the BSF's 41st battalion had recovered 15 kg of heroin worth Rs 75 crore in Amritsar along the international border.
