2 youths stabbed to death in Kurali

Two young men were stabbed to death while another was seriously injured outside the civil hospital in Kurali on the Chandigarh-Ropar National Highway-21 late on Wednesday night.

While Kamaljeet Singh and Dharminder Singh,both in their mid-20s,of Mudho Sangtian village near Kurali,succumbed to their injuries,Satbeer Singh of Badali village was struggling for life with critical stab injuries at the PGIMER in Chandigarh,Kurali SHO Sub-Inspector Manjeet Singh told Newsline. The accused have been identified but are absconding.

The incident took place around 10 pm when Kamaljeet,his father Sohan Singh and Dharminder had gone to enquire about the health of Kamaljeet’s brother-in-law Charanpreet Singh,who was recuperating at the Kurali Civil Hospital from stab injuries sustained during an attack on Morinda Road in Kurali two days ago. As Satbeer was seeing the trio off at the gate of the hospital,eight men attacked them with daggers. While Sohan escaped unhurt,Kamaljeet,Dharminder and Satbeer were grievously injured with stab injuries in their abdomen and other body parts.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the assailants were nursing a grudge against Charanpreet,Kamaljeet and their family over some matter and had earlier attacked Charanpreet. “They are already on the run after attacking Charanpreet. They probably attacked the trio last night because they went to meet Charanpreet,” said SI Manjeet.

The assailants have been identified as Sukhbeer Singh of Kurali,Kamal of Doomchheri village near Morinda,Jagwinder Singh alias Jyoti and Manpreet Singh alias Monu,both from Jhingra Kalan village near Kurali,and their four other unknown accomplices,added SI Manjeet. A case of murder,causing grievous hurt and rioting under Sections 302,324,323,148 and 149 of the IPC has been registered.

4 murders in 3 days
The double murder took the number of murders to four in Mohali district during the last three days. While three were committed in Kurali,one was reported at a dhaba near Kharar. All the victims were youths,in their early 20s,and three of them were stabbed to death. The youth found murdered in Badali village near Kurali on Wednesday has been identified as Parminder Singh of Fatehpur village in Hoshiarpur district.

His parents identified the body,confirmed Kurali SHO Manjeet Singh. Parminder had left his home on October 12 for paying homage at a gurdwara in nearby Mallpur,from where he went missing. “How he reached here and the motive behind the murder are yet to be ascertained,” said the SHO.

Robbers strike twice,injure 3
A gang of five robbers struck at two places stabbing three men before fleeing with their cash and mobile phones late on Wednesday night. While one incident occurred in Sector 32,the second took place at the roundabout on Dakshin Marg. Victims in both the cases were stabbed by five assailants on motorcycles. In the first incident,the victims,Avdesh Kumar and Gagan Singh,were returning home on their bicycles when the the five men attacked them and decamped with their cash and mobile phones,leaving them injured. Both are residents of Ram Darbar and are admitted in GMCH-32. Of the two,Gagan Singh’s condition is stated to be critical. In the other incident,the five men targeted an ice-cream vendor,Om Narayan,near Labour Chowk and decamped with his bag containing Rs 1,500. Before committing the crime,the men bought ice-creams from Om Narayan and attacked him when he asked for money,said Sector 34 SHO Uday Pal. The UT police have registered two cases of robbery. The accused are at large.
