A special court for elected representatives in Bengaluru on Tuesday granted bail to Tamil Nadu Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin in a case filed by a local activist for hurting religious feelings of followers of Sanatan Dharma through his alleged provocative statements.
Udhayanidhi presented himself before the court of the 42nd additional chief metropolitan magistrate Tuesday and filed a bail application in the case.
The court observed that the charges of provocation and hurting religious feelings under IPC sections 153, 298 and 500 “are bailable in nature”.
“The said accused is released on bail on executing personal bond of Rs.50,000,” the special court stated. The court adjourned the matter for hearing on August 8.
