Karnataka minister Priyank Kharge Sunday accused social media platforms of restricting content critical of the Central government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. The platforms he named are X, Meta, YouTube and Facebook.

In a post on X, Kharge said he was “increasingly convinced” that social media platforms were deliberately limiting or restricting the visibility and reach of posts critical of PM Modi, Shah and the BJP regime. “This suppression not only undermines democratic discourse but also skews public perception by silencing dissenting voices,” he said.

The Congress leader added, “This pattern of restricting critical content not only stifles free expression but also distorts the democratic process by preventing citizens from accessing a diverse range of perspectives. Such actions erode public trust in the social media platforms, highlighting the need for greater transparency and accountability in content moderation practices.”
