In the wake of sanction for prosecution granted by Karnataka Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot in connection with the alleged Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, the CM said on Saturday that he has not committed any mistake and will not resign from his post.
Siddaramaiah, while speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, said that the prosecution sanction issued against him was a conspiracy of the Central Government, the BJP and JD(S) leaders.
“The Governor had taken the decision without having any authority or jurisdiction. It is totally unconstitutional and we will fight it out legally…. Because it is an illegal sanction given by the Governor who is a puppet of the Central Government,” Siddaramaiah said.
The CM said that there was no case against him or anybody in connection with the MUDA scam. “The BJP has no moral right to ask for my resignation. The Governor is biased against me,” he said, noting that the Governor was sitting on prosecution sanction requests against Union Minister and former CM H D Kumaraswamy, former state ministers Shashikala Jolle, Murugesh Nirani and Janardhan Reddy.
“They (the BJP) are not tolerating this government. This government has implemented all guarantee schemes which is for poor people of all communities and religions. The Central Government is against social justice, poor people,” he said.
To a question, he said that the Congress high command was with him and the entire Cabinet was with him.
Siddaramaiah has been facing flak from the Opposition in the state for an alleged land deal involving the allotment of 14 housing sites in Mysore to his wife and the theft of Rs 89.73 crore from a state development corporation for the welfare of Scheduled Tribes.
