The Bengaluru police recently arrested four people for allegedly abducting a beef trader by disguising themselves as Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) members. The accused have been identified as Mohammad, 28, a resident of BTM Layout; M Karthik, 26, from Bilekahalli; Dinesh alias Karimudde, 24, from BTM Layout, and Madhu M, 28, from JP Nagar. The incident took place on September 10 when a man named Javed Baig, 52, was on his way to deliver a beef consignment from Ramanagara to a shop in Tilak Nagar, Bengaluru. When he reached the Mico Layout signal, three individuals intercepted his vehicle, identifying themselves as RSS workers. They subsequently took him to a secluded location, the police said. The accused reportedly demanded a ransom of Rs 1 lakh to release Baig, threatening him for transporting beef. Ultimately, Baig was allowed to leave after paying a sum of Rs 10,000. Baig was told that he would find his vehicle near St John’s signal. Although he located his car, the beef consignment was missing. Later, Baig filed a complaint at the Adugodi police station. A police officer said, “During interrogation, we came to know that Mohammed, who owns a beef shop in Tilak Nagar, had meticulously plotted the entire operation. He was determined to get the beef consignment without having to pay Baig.” Mohammed allegedly directed the other accused to abduct Baig, transport him to a secluded area, and later instructed them to leave Baig’s car near St John’s signal.
