Man addicted to online games dies by suicide along with wife, daughter in Karnataka
The trio from Karnataka’s Hassan district allegedly ended their lives as they were unable to repay money borrowed from several people.

A family of three in Karnataka’s Hassan district has died by suicide allegedly after running up huge losses in online rummy.
Police said the bodies of Srinivas, 43, his wife Shwetha, 36, and their 11-year-old daughter—all residents of Channarayapatna taluk—were recovered from the Hemavathi channel on Wednesday.
While Srinivas owned two cars and rented them out in Bengaluru, Swetha taught at a private school in Channarayapatna. Their daughter was a Class 7 student, according to the police.
A police officer said Srinivas had been addicted to online rummy and incurred huge losses in the game. He had taken loans from several people, many of whom were asking for their money back. It is suspected that the family members ended their lives as Srinivas was unable to repay the loans.
After receiving a man-missing complaint with regard to the trio on August 10, the Nuggehalli police found out that Srinivas’s mobile phone had been last active near the channel, from where they later recovered the three bodies.
