Kannada film actor Roopesh G on Friday filed a police complaint of cheating and criminal intimidation against his brother Girisha G and three others for allegedly threatening him after failing to repay a Rs 33 lakh loan incurred for producing films.
The Mahalakshmi Layout police registered a First Information Report (FIR) based on the complaint by Roopesh against his brother and three associates – Anjum, V K Murthy and Mohan.
According to Roopesh, his brother borrowed Rs 33 lakh from him to produce the films Sorry Kane and Dholipata, starring the actor himself, between 2014 and 2019. The producer also allegedly borrowed Rs 40 lakh, Rs 60 and Rs 10 lakh, respectively, from three other lenders with the actor as guarantor.
Roopsh alleged that his brother signed an agreement to return the borrowed amount between August 8 and September 9 last year but defaulted on the agreement.
When the actor pursued the repayment of the loan, he was allegedly abused by his brother and threatened by close associates of his brother.
