Kalyana Karnataka Day: CM Siddaramaiah launches 119 projects worth Rs 1,012.34 crore; Kalaburagi district gets major share

The Kalyana Karnataka Day or Hyderabad Liberation Day is celebrated in 7 districts of the state to mark the merger of Hyderabad state with the Indian Union in 1948.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday inaugurated 119 projects worth Rs 1,012.34 crore and laid the foundation stones of 83 projects worth Rs 806.85 crore on the occasion of Kalyana Karnataka Day at Kalaburagi. The Kalyana Karnataka Day or Hyderabad Liberation Day is celebrated in seven districts of the state to mark the merger of the Hyderabad state with the Indian Union in 1948.

Of the total of 1,819.2 crore projects, around 85 per cent of the projects – worth Rs 1,541.33 crore – are for Kalaburagi district, according to information shared by the Chief Minister’s Office.

Kalaburagi got a share of 37 projects worth Rs 895.97 crore, and foundation stones were laid for 49 projects which were estimated to cost to Rs 645.36 crore.

Among other districts in Kalyana Karnataka region – erstwhile Hyderabad Karnataka – projects worth Rs 112.53 crore has been earmarked for Raichur district, Rs 87.92 crore for Ballari district, Rs 22.49 crore for Bidar, Rs 21.75 crore for Vijayanagar district, Rs 19.49 crore for Koppal and Rs 13.68 crore for Yadgir.

Among the announcements made by Siddaramaiah, was a new flat-floor factory in Kalaburagi. This, he said, “will be a significant step for the state’s electronics industry, providing ready-to-use factory spaces for entrepreneurs. This will create jobs and mark the beginning of electronics manufacturing in Kalyana Karnataka”.

In collaboration with the Central Government, a mega textile park is being set up on 1,000 acres near Nadi Sinnoor-Honnakiranagi in Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode; Rs 50 crore is allocated for infrastructure, which will directly create 1 lakh jobs and 2 lakh indirect jobs, he said. Another textile park will come up at Raichur under PPP mode.

“Dedicated economic corridors provide the infrastructure needed for economic growth. Hence, we are taking steps to develop an economic corridor between Bidar and Bengaluru to boost the economic development of Kalyana Karnataka,” he said.

Apart from it, the first Center of Excellence focused on CNC (Computerized Numerical Control) machines will be established in Kalaburagi at a cost of Rs 16 crore. The state government will construct taluk administrative buildings called Mini Vidhana Soudha in 18 new taluks in Kalyana Karnataka at a cost of Rs 130 crore, Siddaramaiah added.

To introduce the world to the teachings of Basavanna and other saints, a Vachana Museum or Mantapa will be established in Kalaburagi. “The land (is) already identified. Construction will begin soon,” the CM said.

On reservation for residents of Hyderabad Karnataka region in government jobs, he said that 1,09,416 jobs were identified for direct recruitment in various departments of the region, of which 79,985 have been filled. For the 38,705 promotional posts, 29,793 have been promoted. The remaining vacancies will be filled in phases, he added.
