Karnataka student arrested for allegedly uploading obscene posts on social media in Hubballi. (Representational Photo) A student was arrested in Hubballi Wednesday for allegedly uploading obscene posts on social media about the girl students of his college.
The accused was identified as Rajnikanth, an undergraduate student of a private college. On the motive behind the obscene posts, the police said Rajinikanth was denied a hall ticket to appear for an examination due to shortage of attendance. To take revenge, he created a fake social media account — ‘Kashmira1990_0’ — and uploaded vulgar and obscene posts about the girl students of his college.
Some of the students approached the college management on June 20 and reported the incident. However, the police said that the management allegedly ignored their complaint which forced the students to approach the cybercrime police station. An officer said, “The accused had even challenged the police to catch him.”
After learning about the complaint, Rajinikanth tried to give a communal colour to the episode by uploading some other photos. A police officer said, “To divert attention, he uploaded photos in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath can be seen bowing down to Tipu Sultan.”
