Bangalore: Gang dodges police with claims of MLA links, rob realtor of Rs 11 lakh

The incident took place around 9.30 pm on Sunday at the residence of a realtor identified as Prakash Kumar from Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh.

A gang of five persons barged into a real estate businessman’s house in Mahalakshmi Layout in North Bangalore, threatened his family, including two children, at gunpoint and looted a huge booty valued at over Rs 11 lakh, including 400 grams of gold and Rs 20,000 in cash.

The incident took place around 9.30 pm on Sunday at the residence of a realtor identified as Prakash Kumar from Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (North division) T R Suresh said. The police officer said that some of the robbers seemed to have paid a visit to the house on April 30. “Two of the gang members came to Prakash’s house on April 30 and asked for a person named Sathish. They claimed that Sathish was Prakash’s brother and that he had borrowed money from them. The duo went away after they were convinced by Prakash that his brother’s name was Praveen and that there was no one called Sathish. The gang however returned on Sunday night and robbed the family at gun point,” DCP Suresh said.

Interestingly, a night patrol unit of the police had found found the gang members lurking outside the house in an SUV just before the robbery. The policemen questioned the occupants of the SUV on what they were doing and were reportedly told by the robbers that they were associates of an MLA who was visiting the realtor. Soon after the policemen left the scene the gang is suspected to have entered the house to carry out the robbery.
