BJP, JD(S) attacking Siddaramaiah to ‘save their children’, end guarantee schemes, claims K C Venugopal
Training his guns at Thaawar Chand Gehlot, Venugopal said it was unfortunate that the Governor has “become the tool of the (Union) BJP government”

Mounting a defence of the Congress government in Karnataka, K C Venugopal, AICC general secretary in-charge of organisation, Sunday alleged that the BJP-JD(S) coalition was targeting Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to “save their children” and to “finish off the guarantee schemes”.
Venugopal and AICC general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala were in Bengaluru Sunday to discuss the recent developments in the state after Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot issued a notice to Siddaramaiah in connection with Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam.
Comparing the current developments with that of 2019 – when the Congress-JD(S) coalition collapsed in the state – Venugopal said that both the BJP and the JD(S) were indulging in sullying Siddaramaiah’s name. The BJP talking about corruption, he said, was one of the biggest jokes.
“How many cases (does BJP state president) B Y Vijayendra have? How many (does former JD(S) MP) Prajwal Revanna have?” he asked, adding that both the parties wanted to save their children.
The success of guarantee schemes in the state was also a reason why the coalition partners were going after Siddaramaiah, he said.
Training his guns at the Governor, Venugopal said that it was unfortunate that the Governor has “become the tool of the (Union) BJP government.”
“The party is confident of fighting it out legally,” the senior Congress leader said.
“The Centre is not strong like earlier. Those who are trying all these things have to think about that also,” he added.
Venugopal and Surjewala held a meeting with ministers and Congress MLAs to chalk out a strategy to counter the campaign against Siddaramaiah and the Congress government.
