Kambala, a popular buffalo racing contest of the coastal Karnataka region, is set to make a splash in Bengaluru this weekend. The folk sport will be held in the heart of the city at Palace Grounds on November 25 and 26.

The event is being organised by Tulukoota Bengaluru and buffalo racing teams from coastal Karnataka are scheduled to participate. It is the first time that Kambala is being held in Bengaluru.

Kambala is usually held after the southwest monsoon, once the paddy is harvested. Races are held in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts every weekend starting November and the last race of the season is in April.
