The Bengaluru police Wednesday arrested two youths who allegedly robbed two students of the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) at knifepoint around August 20 midnight, officials said. The police have recovered the two stolen phones of the students valued at Rs 40,000, they said. According to the police, college student Gautam Phulera, 20, and his woman collegemate were seated at a bus stop near the law school around midnight when the two accused accosted them and took away their mobile phones. Phulera, in his complaint lodged with the Jnanabharati police on August 21, stated that later when he dialled his number the person at the other end demanded Rs 15,000 to return the gadget and he transferred Rs 5,000 to the phone number given by the accused. The police Wednesday said they have arrested two habitual offenders from Nagarabhavi region in connection with the robbery. One of the accused is Rahul Kumar, 24, and the second is Syed Irfan, 22. The amount of Rs 5,000 that was transferred through UPI by the victim was to an account linked to a phone number of Rahul Kumar and this helped police track down the suspects.
