An FIR has been registered against an official of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and another person for allegedly forging ‘A’ khata documents of the RR Nagar zone in the Karnataka capital.
The accused are Omkar Murthy, first division assistant at the BBMP’s RR Nagar subdivision, and Yathin Gowtham, in whose name a property was allegedly entered in the documents illegally.
The fraud occurred allegedly during the ongoing digitisation drive of revenue documents in all BBMP zones. According to the FIR registered on Wednesday, the digitisation started in November 2023 in RR Nagar.
While scanning the ‘A’ khata documents of Halagevadrehalli, Murthy illegally made an entry on page number 122 of the documents. Entry number 7,361 on the page was under Kiran Raj, while 7,362 was empty, followed by Adi Narayan Shetty in entry number 7,363. He is accused of illegally entering the name of Yathin Gowtham in entry number 7,362 and the entry read, “66/1, 9/5, 40*60 Yathin Gowthan V”.
Murhty has been booked for cheating, fraud and dereliction of duty.
The complainant in the case is Assistant Revenue Officer Arun Kumar.
