BBMP, BESCOM booked for electrocution death of a migrant labourer

The deceased identified as Prakash Kumar was a native of Rajasthan.

The deceased identified as Prakash Kumar, a native of Rajasthan entered the main door of the public toilet and touched the grilled door of facility. Unknown to Kumar, the metal frame was in contact with a live wire dangling from a nearby BESCOM pole due to which he was electrocuted, the police said. Prakash was found unconscious by co-workers who rushed him to KIMS Hospital, but the doctors declared him dead-on-arrival.

Officials said both the parties are were responsible as BBMP was supposed to maintain the facility, whereas BESCOM was liable for general safety arising from its instruments and equipments, the police added.
