The death of a 32-year-old man in what was classified as a road accident in Bengaluru is being investigated after two months, as his father approached a court, raising the suspicion that his son could have been murdered.

On August 6, M Arun Raj, a resident of Hongasandra in Begur Post, was found lying injured near his damaged two-wheeler by a passerby. He was found near the NICE Road bridge on Begur Koppa Road and taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The Hulimavu traffic police then registered a road accident case under section 281 (rash riding) and 106 (1) (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

On August 11, the police received a postmortem report that suggested that Arun Raj died due to a skull fracture and intracranial haemorrhage as a result of injuries sustained.

Arun’s father Muniraju M suspects that his son could have been attacked by someone.

Speaking to indianexpress.com, Muniraju said, “There was no damage to the helmet, but there was a head injury. How can anyone sustain such injuries without the helmet getting damaged? There was a one-inch injury on the left side of Arun’s head.”

“I kept asking the police to transfer the case to the law and order wing, stating there was something suspicious in my son’s death. They seized Arun’s scooter and kept the helmet in the office but did nothing. I do not know any politician or officer who can influence the police. The police were asking me to provide evidence to justify my suspicion that Arun was murdered. If I were to find evidence, why do we need the police?” asked Muniraju, who has been a lorry driver for the past 30 years.

“I will extend all my help to the police to investigate the case,” Muniraju said.
