12 cases booked over illegal hoardings put up for Bengaluru Youth Congress event
The action comes a day after Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar said Youth Congress workers should demonstrate their strength in polling booths, not with illegal displays.

A day after Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar warned of action against illegal hoardings and banners, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike has filed at least 12 police complaints over illegal displays put up in the state capital.
Tushar Girinath, Chief Commissioner, BBMP, announced on Monday that 12 FIRs had been filed and fines worth Rs 12 lakh imposed. “More than 1,350 flex boards and banners have been removed since Sunday in East, West and Yelahanka. More than 600 party flags have been removed,” he added.
Congress workers had put up a massive number of flex boards and banners for the swearing-in ceremony of new Youth Congress office-bearers held at the Palace Grounds on Monday.
Shivakumar said he had instructed the BBMP commissioner to take action against those who had put up hoardings and banners illegally in the city, including around the Palace Grounds, in connection with the Youth Congress event.
“Those who have put up the banners and flexes illegally should remove them themselves, and if they do not remove them, I have ordered strict action, including fines, against those concerned. Youth Congress workers should demonstrate their strength in the booths, not by putting up banners and flexes like this,” he said on Sunday.
