More than 10 lakh people participated in events marking the 100th episode of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mann Ki Baat radio address in Karnataka Sunday, the state BJP claimed.

The BJP in the state had asked leaders across all levels to participate in events at the booth level. Karnataka BJP spokesperson M G Mahesh said that the party had organised pooling public at the booth level in the state, and it received a remarkable response. “We checked with the numbers and it has crossed more than 10 lakh across the state,” he said.

President of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha and BJP MP Tejasvi Surya participated at the event in Bengaluru with many people. He tweeted: “Grateful to PM Sri@narendramodi Ji for inspiring millions of youngsters across the country every month & reiterating collective efforts for #NewIndia through #MannKiBaat Watched the 100th episode broadcast along with people of Bengaluru amidst election campaign.”

Asked whether the event would influence the Assembly election slated for May 10, Mahesh said it was coincidental that the 100th episode and Karnataka Assembly elections have come simultaneously. “Man Ki Baat is heard by crores of people across the country and it really motivates them. It is wrong to look through a political lens. But yes, this is going to motivate pro-nationalists and workers to work better as the Man Ki Baat agenda is also to rebuild a strong nation,” he said.

Kavemshri, a hotelier and president of Kala Chetana in Gadag, who received appreciation during the 96th episode of Mann Ki Baat for his service in the culture sector, also participated in the 100th episode. Prasad Bharati had invited him to the special programme.

BJP national president J P Nadda listened to Man Ki Baat in Honnali of the Davangere district. Union minister Pralhad Joshi and hundreds of party workers participated in the event held at Chowdiah memorial hall in Bengaluru.
