Local Shiv Sena leader, brother, son injured as assailants open fire in Punjab’s Batala

A probe has been launched after Shiv Sena local leader Rajiv Mahajan was shot at in his electronic goods shop in Punjab’s Batala Saturday afternoon. Mahajan, his brother Anil Mahajan and Anil’s son Manav sustained injuries in the attack and have been admitted to a private hospital. Their condition is being monitored by Amritsar-based doctors.

Under treatment at the hospital, Anil Mahajan said they have no enmity with anyone. He mentioned that around 12 pm, a young man arrived saying he wanted to buy an LED and he went into the shop. “Shortly after, another young man came inside and started firing indiscriminately at us, which resulted in serious injuries to both my brother and my son,” he said.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP-City) Lalit Kumar and other police officers reached the spot soon after receiving information about the incident. An investigation is underway.
