Youth Congress workers cut off the water connection at the official residence of Rajkot Municipal Corporation commissioner Dinesh Brahmbhatt here on Friday to protest against irregular water supply in the city.
They also damaged other properties at his residence,for which the police registered a case against 30 leaders,including city unit president Jaswant Bhatti and former mayor Ashok Dangar.
This comes three days after the Congress,under the leadership of Rajkot MP Kunvarji Bavalia,gave an ultimatum to the RMC authorities over the introduction of alternate day water supply to the city.
They had earlier announced to make a strong representation in this regard to the RMC office on the Dhebar Road,the protesters sent security guards into a tizzy by launching an attack on Brahmbhatt s house on the Yagnik Road.
Workers of the youth wing of the Congress came in a larger number and barged into the compound hall area. First they cut off the water connection to the garden and then smashed windowpanes and damaged some furniture.
Later,Kiritsinh Zala,the watchman of commissioner residence,lodged a complaint with the A-Division police station against the Youth Congress workers under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.
