The re-elections will be held on June 7,said Prakash Joshi, the election commissioner of the party,on Monday. The decision was taken during FAME’s state visit from May 27 to 30. Elections to the Gujarat Pradesh Youth Congress were held in 182 Assembly constituencies on March 31 this year. The elections were marred by complaints of booth capturing and irregularities within the party ranks.

He said the re-election would be held at Patan,Mehsana,Naroda,Gadhada,Dabhoi,Karanj in Surat,Surat East and Gandevi. Also, fresh elections will be held in Una.

Joshi, accompanied by YCI general secretary Yashumati Thakur, told mediapersons that the suspension of Naroda Youth Congress worker Karan Singh Tomar for “booth capturing” has been revoked. He added that the complaints against Karan were made over telephone only. Karan is the son of former AMC standing committee chairman,Kishan Singh Tomar.
