A total of 55 units were razed to the ground, said Mangesh Jaiswal,in-charge,encroachment department, adding,We also demolished the illegal extensions of the houses.
Considering the sensitive nature of the area, the VMC took no chance and carried out the drive in the presence of as many as 160 officials.
Top officials from the police, encroachment, land and estate departments remained present on the spot till the operation got over around 3 pm. We carried out the entire operation without any problem,as the residents cooperated with us, said Jaiswal.
