Future roadmap for state, port-led city development to be discussed at seminars

Gujarat’s roadmap for the future and the concept of port-led city development will be in focus at two seminars set to be organised during the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit next month. The annual summit is set to be held between January 10 and January 12.

The announcement for ‘Gujarat’s Roadmap for Viksit Bharat@2047’, one of the two seminars, was made by Secretary, Planning (General Administration Department) Rakesh Shankar on Tuesday. Planned on January 10, the seminar will serve as a platform to exchange ideas among major stakeholders about Gujarat’s roadmap for the future. It will have two panel discussions related to the subject.

‘Port-Led City Development in Gujarat: A Vision for the Future’, the other seminar, will be organised by Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB) on January 11. Chief Executive Officer of GMB and senior IAS officer Rajkumar Beniwal shared the details and said, “The seminar is designed to explore, discuss, and promote the transformative potential of port-led development in the urban system. This gathering is envisioned as a dynamic forum for the convergence of thought leaders, facilitating discussions among government officials, industry leaders, international investors, and maritime authorities.”

An official release quoted Beniwal as saying, “The seminar aims to enhance understanding of the port-led city development concept, emphasising its potential for economic growth and urban transformation. It seeks to explore opportunities for public-private partnerships, investments, and collaborations to expedite port-led city development. The event will highlight the role of technology and innovation in smart infrastructure, logistics, and sustainability for port-led cities. Additionally, it provides a platform for stakeholders to network, build alliances, and foster collaborations to drive the success of port-led city initiatives across the globe.”

The seminar, likely to be attended by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbanand Sonowal, will have two panel discussions. It will have a distinguished line of speakers on the subject, the release said.

Speaking with mediapersons, Beniwal said that the Gujarat government will carry out a feasibility report for selecting a place to develop as a port-led city.
