In the run up to the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024, a startup conclave will be organised in Gandhinagar on Thursday, Gujarat Minister of Higher and Technical Education Rushikesh Patel announced on Monday.
Representatives of unicorn startups, venture capitalists from across the country, and leading businessmen of Gujarat are expected to attend the conclave, the Minister stated. A roundtable meeting is also scheduled for Wednesday in Gandhinagar where Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for Skill Development, Entrepreneurship, Electronics, and Information Technology, are expected to be in attendance.
“The roundtable meeting and startup conclave will focus on regulatory reforms, tax incentives, and enhancing the startup ecosystem in terms of compliance, to provide a more flexible and conducive environment for startups,” Rushikesh Patel said. The discussion will include a review of the state of venture capital and private equity investment in India and Gujarat. There will be an extensive conversation on topics such as the investment landscape to explore opportunities for attracting more investment to Gujarat.
Amid buzz over the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, the much-awaited i-Hub building in Ahmedabad will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Tuesday. i-Hub supports and mentors innovators on their path from conceptualisation to establishing enterprises, particularly assisting early-stage startups in reaching the market. Highlighting the accomplishments of i-Hub, the Minister emphasised its impact, including the implementation of startup capacity-building programmes benefiting four lakh students.
“Additionally, support has been extended to 2,300 innovators engaged in diverse startup activities, with incubation assistance provided to 439 startups under i-Hub, out of which 35 have secured venture capital alliances. An impressive investment of 350 crores has been made in 114 women-led startups. Notably, students from Gujarat University have pioneered the development of the world’s first smart headphones through their startup, We-Hear,” the Minister added.
The conclave will delve into the challenges of innovation and research, market access, funding, financial inclusion, and other aspects relevant to startups.
“The event will feature various sessions, master classes, and networking opportunities. Collaborations across different states will strengthen creativity and the startup ecosystem,” he added.
This segment of the conclave aims to guide investors interested in startups. A panel of seasoned investors will share their experiences, best practices, and insights, offering valuab1le lessons for startups. The session will particularly focus on investment strategies and the associated institutional framework.
The 10th edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit is scheduled from January 10-12.
