Vanzara,Pandey called another mystery number,in Vadodara

The number,registered in the name of ‘Patel City’,when checked the Gujarat Police was found belonging to Mayur Parmar,an executive with ‘Auto Shakti’,a fairly well-known three wheeler transport company in Vadodara.

Mayur Parmar while speaking to The Indian Express on phone from Vadodara said,“I am not aware of the registration in name of Patel City but this is my phone and I work for Auto Shakti,a transport company of Vadodara as a self executive. I have this number since several years now”.

He seemed reluctant to answer more questions.

Vanzara’s call log shows he spoke to Parmar at 1:49 am on June 15,2004 for 24 seconds,just two hours before the four were killed at Kotarpur Waterworks on the outskirts of Ahmedabad.

Five minutes after talking to Parmar,Vanzara called G L Singhal,whom he spoke to for 35 seconds. Vanzara again called Singhal at 5:34am after the encounter was over.

Parmar had called Vanzara at 8:08pm and spoke to him for 37 seconds which,as per the CDR,was Vanzara’s last call on June 15.

Previously,Vanzara had called Parmar on June 9 at around 9:57am,a day before the shooting squad was readied for the ‘operation’. Vanzara’s CDR show he was in constant contact with Parmar as he had spoken to him twice on June 6 and also on June 1.

A day before the encounter,absconding cop Pandey spoke to Parmar at 1:18pm for 26 seconds. Incidentally,Vanzara did not make any calls to Parmar that day.

CBI investigations show Ishrat,Javed and Zeeshan Johar were brought to the crime scene in the blue Indica car driven by a police constable,while Amjad Ali Rana was brought blindfolded in an SUV. He was made to stand on the divider on the road just behind the Indica,after which fire was opened on them.

Also,the encounter cops seem to have got in touch with several transport companies to hire cars for for a day or two.

Two officers of the Subsidiary Intelligence Bureau (SIB),Rajiv Wankhede and MK Sinha,had used another car while taking Ishrat and Javed into custody from Vasad toll booth in Anand on June 12. They were accompanied by suspended DSP NK Amin and suspended DSP Tarun Barot,who are both chargesheeted in the case.

Two days later,the same officers had met GL Singhal who,as per the chargesheet,collected two AK 47’s and revolvers from the SIB office.

On the same day (June 12),Vanzara had called the number registered in the name of Siddharth Das,as reported by the paper earlier,and spoke for 14 seconds at 6:04 pm.

Three more names of private number holders were found in Vanzara’s CDR which were traced to Dilip Jaiswal (9825007799),Navin Vinayak (9825279797) and Vikram Desai (9825414616).
