The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB), Surat wing Monday arrested an Assistant Commissioner (Provident Fund) and an Enforcement Officer in Gujarat’s Vapi, in connection with a bribe case of Rs 5 lakh. According to the officials, the Provident Fund (PF) office in Vapi had issued a notice to a builder who had allegedly failed to pay the PF of his employees. The builder in turn had requested the officials to reduce the penalty. According to the officials, the Assistant Commissioner (Class 1 officer) Harshadkumar Parmar and (Class 2 officer) Enforcement Officer Suprabhat Tomar had allegedly demanded Rs 5 lakh bribe to get his work done. The builder, however, contacted the ACB and lodged a complaint against both officers. Based on the complaint, the anti-corruption bureau laid a trap and arrested the accused, said ACB Surat Assistant Director R R Chaudhary.
