Two more positive swine flu cases were reported in Gujarat on Saturday. The two girls had travelled to the US as part of a 10-member student group under the international student exchange programme offered by an American NGO. They had returned to Ahmedabad via Delhi on July 8 after having stayed in the US for a year.

State Health Secretary Ravi Saxena said: “The two girls were showing symptoms of the virus and the NICD later confirmed it. The girl isolated at the Nadiad Civil Hospital is an independent case although even in this case the girl had travelled to the US. All the girls are stable, and their symptoms are also subsiding. The symptoms mostly fall inline after two to three days of starting treatment. The common factor in all these new cases is that all the girls are between the age group of 16 to 25 years and had travelled back from the US.”

The two girls, who have tested positive, have been kept in isolation at the Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad, while two others, including one caretaker, are suspected cases.
